The regime in Russia is ultra-conservative; it defends a reactionary oligarchic capitalism and promotes Russian chauvinism. It is an enemy of the Labour Movement. Yet the Russo-Ukraine War, Russia’s role in Syria, the Trump-Putin nexus and assassinations in England have all provided growing evidence of a deep retrogression across a section of the Western Left on this issue.
